This article examines Fazlur Rahman's double movement method as a contemporary approach to Islamic studies. The problem addressed is the tension between textual fidelity and the need to interpret Islamic teachings within changing historical and social realities. The study aims to clarify the structure of Rahman's method, assess its contribution to contemporary Islamic studies, and formulate implications for Islamic education. This article uses library research with a conceptual review approach. Primary sources include Rahman's works on Islamic methodology, Qur'anic themes, and Islamic modernity, while secondary sources consist of verified journal articles and academic books. The analysis was conducted through source criticism, thematic classification, and conceptual synthesis. The study finds that double movement consists of two related movements: from contemporary problems to the historical context of revelation to identify general moral principles, and from those principles back to the present to formulate contextual applications. Rahman's contribution lies in connecting Qur'anic ethics, historical consciousness, and rational ijtihad. The article concludes that his method remains relevant because it integrates textual commitment, moral reasoning, and social transformation.
