STRENGTHENING COMPREHENSIVE ISLAMIC UNDERSTANDING THROUGH THE INTRODUCTION TO ISLAMIC STUDIES COURSE AMONG ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDENTS

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of comprehensive Islamic understanding through the Introduction to Islamic Studies course among students of English Education. The Introduction to Islamic Studies course plays an important role in providing students with a basic and holistic understanding of Islamic teachings, including the aspects of aqidah, sharia, akhlaq, and Islamic civilization. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. The data were obtained from literature related to Islamic studies, Islamic education, aqidah, sharia, akhlaq, and the history of Islamic civilization. The findings show that the Introduction to Islamic Studies course is able to strengthen students’ Islamic insight in an integrative way, not only in the aspect of religious rituals but also in shaping their worldview, moral attitude, social awareness, and understanding of contemporary life. For students of English Education, comprehensive Islamic understanding is important because they are prepared to become future educators who not only master foreign languages but also possess Islamic foundations, moderate attitudes, and the ability to integrate Islamic values into the context of global education.
